The idea behind this series of cards was to introduce new and upcoming “Makers” to potential retail customers. They were a larger version of Baseball cards. Sized at a comfortable 5.5 x 8.5 inches and printed 4-color, double-sided on 100lb. coated gloss cover stock. They had a nice heft and feel.
I had no control over the images provided by the Makers but was able to use this to my advantage by turning the photos into illustrations. The final portraits reflected each Maker's own personality and sense of style.
This series became a huge success, garnering increased sales, and ended up becoming office and cubicle decorations by vendors and customers. There was much interest by potential Makers who wanted to participate in this program.
